You’re Not Falling Apart

You’re Coming Into Your Own

Depth therapy for women navigating the second half of life—

using Internal Family Systems (IFS), EMDR, and a deep respect for where you’ve been

Something shifts in midlife. The roles you’ve carried—caregiver, professional, parent, partner, daughter—

start to feel less like you. Old losses resurface. Big questions arrive that refuse to be ignored.

This isn’t a crisis. It’s a reckoning. And it deserves more than generic support.

I’m Kim Wilson, a licensed clinical social worker with 15 years of specialized experience working with women in their 40s, 50s, 60s… through their 90s, doing the deep work of this season. My approach draws on Internal Family Systems (IFS), EMDR, grief work, and psychospiritual frameworks that honor the full arc of a woman’s life—including the profound power of what comes after.

What Brings Women to My Practice

I work with women navigating:

  • The grief of caregiving—and the complicated grief after it ends

  • Retirement and the identity questions that follow

  • Aging, illness, and an honest reckoning with mortality

  • The loss of who you thought you were—and the discovery of who you actually are

  • Trauma that’s waited long enough to be addressed

  • The quiet hunger for meaning, purpose and aliveness in the second half of life

Whether you’re in Winston Salem or anywhere in North Carolina virtually, I offer a space that is rigorous, warm and genuinely transformative.

My Approach

I work primarily through Internal Family Systems (IFS)—a powerful evidence-based model that helps you understand the different “parts” of yourself that have been protecting you, sometimes at great cost. Rather than pathologizing your responses to life, IFS helps you approach yourself with curiosity and compassion.

I also draw on EMDR for trauma processing, grief frameworks from David Kessler’s certification program, and psychospiritual perspectives that take seriously the depth of dimensions of being human—the archetypal, the embodied, the ancestral.

After 15 years of this work, I believe: the second half of life is not a diminishment. It is an initiation.

What Clients Say

  • “Kim was a huge part of my personal growth journey. I felt so comfortable and seen in every session."

  • "Kim's extensive knowledge and training are matched by her empathetic and approachable manner."

  • "Kim has experience, wisdom, and an arsenal of techniques to peel you away from your unhelpful patterns."

The Ways We Can

Work Together

  • One-on-one, 50 minute sessions in Winston Salem or virtually. This is where the sustained, deep work happens—at your pace, in your direction

  • 90 minutes or longer, for clients ready to go further, faster. Intensives are ideal for those who can’t wait for weekly increments or who want to do focused work around a specific transition, loss, or turning point.

  • Small group work using Internal Family Systems. A rare opportunity to do parts work in community—deeply personal, surprisingly powerful

  • Immersive experiences for women ready for something beyond the weekly session

  • I speak to professional audiences—clinicians, organizations serving older adults, and others—on IFS, aging, and the psychospiritual dimensions of the second half of life.
