Therapy Services

  • Individual Therapy

Traditional 50-minute one-on-one sessions provide a safe and confidential space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences without judgment. Whether you're facing specific challenges or seeking personal growth and self-discovery, Individual Therapy provides personalized support tailored to your unique needs and goals.

  • Intensive Therapy

Intensives are a format of therapy that allows clients to experience deep transformation in a more accelerated manner than traditional therapy sessions by creating an opportunity to meet for longer sessions and go deeper. Intensives are a great fit for people who are motivated to do the work and those who have demanding schedules.

  • Group Therapy

Group Therapy offers individuals with shared experiences the opportunity to come together to explore challenges, gain insights, and learn from one another. Because of this, the group setting can often be exponentially more powerful than one-on-ones. Learn more about upcoming group offerings below.

  • Workshops & More

Workshops are a great fit for those interested in being introduced to Internal Family Systems or "parts work'' and understanding how your parts can influence your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors in your personal or professional life. I am also available for Speaking Engagements virtually or in person across the Winston-Salem area.

“Most helpful is Kim’s presence and sincere belief and delight in you as you are.”

Therapy Modalities

I am trained and certified in many common therapeutic modalities and techniques used in individual and group psychotherapy. The approach that feels right for your sessions will be unique to your needs and my goal is to demystify therapy by prioritizing the therapeutic relationship above all else. Below, you’ll find a brief overview of common therapy modalities and techniques I use with my clients.

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a type of therapy that allows you to examine yourself and others as multifaceted beings. You have various parts in you and these parts consist of different thoughts, feelings, or sensations. During IFS sessions, we’ll explore your emotions and behaviors through the lens of “parts work” in order to heal wounds, develop harmony within your internal system, and become more Self-led: who you really are, at your core. We all have qualities of courage, confidence, and competence, but many internal obstacles prevent us from accessing our true nature. Being "Self-led" means having compassion for yourself and others and having clarity in relationships to make the right choices.

I am Level 2 trained in IFS.

  • Healing Circles provides a supportive group setting where participants explore their inner parts using the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model, fostering self-awareness, compassion and emotional healing.

  • EMDR is a type of therapy that is designed to alleviate the distress associated with traumatic memories. While EMDR therapy is most commonly used to treat traumatic stress symptoms and post-traumatic stress disorder, it is also effective for identifying negative core beliefs that are preventing you from having healthy relationships with yourself and others.

    I am EMDR certified.

  • Grief counseling sessions provide a supportive and empathetic space for you to express and process your feelings associated with the loss or anticipated loss of someone or something in your life. You’ll be offered validation, normalization, and guidance as you navigate the grieving process at a pace that is most comfortable for you. Along this journey, you can expect to find sources of comfort and resilience and strategies for integrating your loss into your life in a way that allows for healing and growth.

I am a Certified Grief Educator via David Kessler.

  • Discussion groups are offered for women over the age of 60. Topics include relationships, finding meaning, caregiving, body image and health, social isolation, and managing anger. These groups are designed to be more casual and less structured than group therapy sessions.

  • During your mindfulness sessions, I’ll guide you toward intentionally focusing your attention on the present moment, observing thoughts, feelings, sensations, and surroundings without judgment. The goal is to cultivate awareness, clarity, and acceptance which will help to reduce stress, enhance well-being, and foster a deeper connection to yourself and the world around you.

  • During these sessions, we will mindfully spend time in a forest or natural environment slowing down, engaging the five senses, and connecting with nature. Forest bathing emphasizes the therapeutic effects of being surrounded by trees, fresh air, and natural sounds, offering opportunities for rejuvenation, mindfulness, and deepening our relationship with the natural world around us and also ourselves.

  • Motivational Interviewing is a collaborative, goal-oriented counseling approach that helps individuals explore and resolve ambivalence about change. It involves empathetic listening, guiding conversations, and eliciting intrinsic motivation for behavior change. By fostering self-awareness and increasing readiness for change, Motivational Interviewing helps individuals get “unstuck”.

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy is a form of cognitive-behavioral therapy that encourages individuals to accept their thoughts and feelings rather than trying to suppress or control them. It emphasizes mindfulness, values clarification, and committed action to promote psychological flexibility and well-being. With the use of various techniques, including loving-kindness meditations, your sessions will help you to observe your thoughts without judgment, identify your core values, and take action aligned with those values - even in the presence of discomfort or difficult emotions.
